HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – The Mulberry Street Bridge has reopened a week ahead of schedule.
The bridge reopened to vehicles and pedestrians shortly after 3 p.m. Friday, according to PennDOT.
The bridge had been closed since Monday for work to prevent the new deck from water penetration and deterioration. It was expected to remain closed for up to two weeks, but nice weather allowed the contractor to get the job done faster.
The bridge over Cameron Street, Paxton Creek and railroad lines connects Allison Hill to the Harrisburg Transportation Center and the downtown area. Work to rehabilitate it has been underway since March 2014.
The overall project should wrap up by the end of this year.
