CAMPBELLTOWN, Pa. (WHTM) – Authorities believe they know the name of the man who was fatally shot by police outside a Lebanon County gun store, but they said his identity is not yet officially confirmed.
District Attorney David Arnold told ABC 27 News that investigators hope to positively identify the man later Tuesday or Wednesday.
He said authorities also plan to release more information on the incident soon, but there is more investigation to do at this point.
South Londonderry Township police had responded to a burglary alarm at the Horseshoe Pike Gun Shop, at 2703 Horseshoe Pike, before dawn Monday when authorities said the officers confronted the heavily-armed suspect.
They chased the suspect into a nearby soybean field where shots were exchanged and the suspect was killed.
Investigators have not said how many shots were fired or whether the officers or the suspect fired first.
No police officers were injured.
