Enola man awaiting child sex trial pleads guilty to producing porn

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – An Enola man awaiting trial on child sexual assault charges has pleaded guilty in federal court to producing child pornography.

Michael Kman, 51, entered the plea Thursday before U.S. District Court Judge Sylvia Rambo.

Kman was charged last year with the rape and sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl. U.S. Attorney Peter Smith said the federal charges were the result of Kman coercing the girl to engage in sexual conduct for the purpose of producing child pornography.

A sentencing date has not yet been set.

Smith said the maximum penalty under federal law is 30 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Kman is scheduled for trial in Cumberland County on September 14, according to court records. In addition to rape and sexual assault, he is charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, and unlawful contact with a minor.

He is being held in Cumberland County Prison on $1 million bail.

Kman was in trouble with the law five years ago when authorities said he attempted to rig youth basketball games. He was a coach for the Catholic Youth Organization in 2010 when state police said he offered referees bribes of up to $2,500.

In that case, he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of harassment.
