Adams County man jailed for tax fraud

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – An Adams County man is facing 15 months in prison for filing false claims with the IRS.

Mitchell Orewiler, 34, was sentenced before a federal grand jury Thursday in Harrisburg.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Orewiler filed falsified Federal Income Tax returns in 2006, 2007, and 2008.

In those returns, Orewiler made a claim to a refund amount of approximately $500,000. Of that amount, he received $324, 000 from the IRS.

He is expected to pay restitution in the amount of $324,000.

Orewiler was indicted in March following an investigation led by the IRS.

He plead guilty to all charges in April.
