HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Harrisburg’s Mulberry Street bridge will close for construction beginning August 3.
According to PennDOT, crews will apply an epoxy-aggregate overlay to protect the new bridge deck from water penetration and deterioration.
A detour route that follows 13th Street, Market Street and 4th Street will be in place.
The bridge is expected to reopen on August 17.
The construction is part of a $12.2 million rehabilitation project that started in March 2014.
The bridge, originally built in 1909, connects the Allison Hill section of Harrisburg to the city’s transportation center and downtown area.
