Pa. names new recovery officer for Harrisburg schools

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – A former superintendent in the Middletown Area and Steelton-Highspire school districts has been tapped as the new chief recovery officer for the Harrisburg School District.

Dr. Audrey Utley, a former acting superintendent in Harrisburg, will replace Gene Veno.

Education Secretary Pedro Rivera announced Utley’s appointment Monday. He said Utley has worked to improve other struggling schools and has firsthand knowledge of the issues distressed districts face.

Veno submitted his resignation May 8. His resignation took effect June 30.
