DILLSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – An employee says chaos erupted after a man and woman were killed in a murder-suicide on the deck of a York County pub Thursday night.
Police say more than 50 people witnessed the shooting at Flapjacks Pub along Route 15.
According to witnesses, 31-year-old Arthur Guise of Dillsburg walked onto the deck and said nothing before he shot 33-year-old Sharon Williams of Mount Holly Springs three times in the back. Friends say the two once dated.
“I heard the ‘pop’ go off and turned around and he was standing there and then he dropped. It was just chaos, just blood everywhere,” bartender Scotty Osterhoudt Jr. said. “People just ran every which way, jumping off the deck. Nobody really knew what was going on.”
A family member said Guise suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder after two Army tours in Iraq.
According to witnesses, Williams was sitting at a table with friends.
“There were two or three guys that tried to resuscitate her, but it was too late,” Osterhoudt said.
She leaves behind a 3-year-old daughter.
“She was such a good person and you never want to see a young child like that lose their mom the way she did. She doesn’t deserve that,” Osterhoudt said. “The situation affected way more people than just the two people that passed away. It is way bigger than that.”
Flapjacks reopened to the public Friday afternoon, but not to serve food. Scott Osterhoudt, a son-in-law of the owner, said the doors were opened for comfort and healing.
“A lot of people witnessed this last night and (the owner) just thinks it is important we open up to the public and let those people come in if they need to and find some comfort maybe gathering together,” he said.
