Creature Feature: Hognose Snakes

Jesse Rothacker with Forgotten Friend Reptile Sanctuary brought hognose snakes to Good Day PA. Rothacker noted that they have earned a reputation as the “Pennsylvania Cobra” because they are such drama queens and flatten their necks like a cobra to get your attention if you’re about to step on them.

He wants viewers to know that most Pennsylvania snakes are harmless. There are 21 kinds of snakes in Pennsylvania and only two venomous species that call Central PA their home. Viewers can always text a snake photo to Rothacker at (717) 330-3015 for a free species and a chance to enter his photo contest.
