This weekend crews are replacing the 10th Street bridge in Lemoyne, closing a busy section of Route 581 in Cumberland County.
The first work weekend begins Friday at 9 p.m. and ends Monday at 6 a.m. During that time, Route 581 eastbound in Lemoyne will be closed to traffic.
The suggested detour is from Route 581 west through the US 15 interchange to Interstate 81 north.
Westbound Route 581 drivers will encounter a left-lane restriction and traffic stoppages as the new bridge deck is set into place.
During the work, traffic on 10th Street will also be detoured. Drivers will be directed from Lowther Street to 3rd Street and Hummel Avenue.
PennDOT says access to businesses along 10th Street will be maintained when possible.
Weather permitting, the second work weekend will begin on June 12.
PennDOT says 86,000 vehicles use the bridge daily. Drivers are advised to plan ahead and find an alternate route.
