QUARRYVILLE, Pa. (WHTM) – A Lancaster County man is headed to trial for an assault on a 3-month-old girl.
Tyler R. Patterson, 24, of New Providence, waived a preliminary hearing Friday and was held for trial on charges of aggravated assault, recklessly endangerment, and endangering the welfare of a child, according to court documents.
A formal arraignment is scheduled June 26.
Patterson is accused of causing serious injuries to the infant, who was admitted to Lancaster General Hospital on March 15 for a fractured skull. She was later transferred to Penn State Hershey Medical Center where doctors found she had also suffered brain and eye injuries, according to the criminal complaint.
Patterson told troopers he was lying on a sofa with the girl and she rolled off his chest before striking a plastic cooler and the floor. The girl’s doctor, however, said the injuries were neither accidental nor consistent with Patterson’s explanation, the complaint states.
He remains in Lancaster County Prison on $25,000 cash bail.
