Jurors to mull murder-for-hire case Wednesday

YORK, Pa. (AP) – Jurors are expected to begin deliberating Wednesday in the case of a central Pennsylvania man accused of trying to hire someone to kill a male acquaintance of his wife.

Closing arguments were delivered Tuesday in the York County trial of 47-year-old Gregory Allen Hess of Seven Valleys, who is charged with solicitation of criminal homicide.

Prosecutors allege Hess paid a man $30,000 to commit the murder, but that person called authorities and the prospective target helped stage photos in a ruse to convince Hess that the murder had been committed.

Hess testified that he wanted the man beaten up, not killed.

He faces separate charges that he tried to arrange the murder of the man hired for the slaying – and then the murder of the second prospective “hit-man.”
