Ambulance struck head-on by wrong-way driver in York Township

YORK, Pa. (WHTM) – Four people were injured when a wrong-way driver collided head-on with an ambulance transporting a patient in York Township early Friday.

York Area Regional police said the driver of a Honda passenger car was traveling north in the southbound lane of South Queen Street and crashed into the White Rose Ambulance vehicle as it crested a hill south of Honey Valley Road around 12:25 a.m.

Police are investigating why the Honda was traveling in the wrong lane. They said alcohol may be a factor.

All four patients were transported to York Hospital. Their medical conditions were not available.

White Rose Ambulance said the unit involved in the crash was transporting a patient, but was not in emergency mode.
