Hearing Wednesday to determine if video of deadly police encounter will be released

On Wednesday, a judge will hear arguments about whether video of February’s deadly police shooting in Dauphin County should be released.

Officer Lisa Mearkle is charged with homicide in the shooting death of David Kassick.  Investigators said Mearkle cornered Kassick after he fled from a traffic stop in February.  They said after she Tasered him, she shot him in the back killing him as he was lying face down on the ground.

Attorneys for Mearkle said the officer thought Kassick had a gun.
