HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – A 19-mile section of the Pennsylvania Turnpike between the Harrisburg East and Lebanon-Lancaster interchanges is scheduled to close for about six hours this weekend.
The toll highway will be closed in both directions from 11:30 p.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Sunday, weather permitting.
Construction crews plan to repave the roadway near milepost 251 in Lower Swatara Township while the turnpike is closed.
The recommended detour for westbound drivers is to exit at Lebanon-Lancaster and follow Route 72 north, Route 322 west, and I-283 south to reenter at Harrisburg East.
Eastbound drivers should follow I-283 north, Route 322 east, and Route 72 south.
The Lawn and Highspire service plazas will stay open during the construction work, but travelers inside the plazas after 11:30 p.m. will not be able to leave until the work is complete the following morning.
