Caitlin’s Smiles to walk and play golf to bring smiles to children’s faces

Cheryl Hornung started Caitlin’s Smiles at her home in Dauphin four years after her 7-year-old daughter, Caitlin, lost her battle to brain cancer. Caitlin was diagnosed at the with a brain tumor at the age of four.  She endured surgeries, chemotherapy, a stem-cell transplant, endless blood transfusions and long stays at hospitals, which took her away from home, her parents and her baby sister. But no matter what she endured or where she was, Caitlin found joy in art – drawings and crafts that she gave away to her doctors, nurses and other children.

Volunteers work morning, afternoon and evening to put together over 120,000 of craft kits annually along with nearly 12,000 Bags of Smiles for children in over 90 hospitals and pediatric specialty clinics.
