LEMOYNE, Pa. (WHTM) – Ramps to Interstate 83 South at the Route 581 interchange are scheduled to close during the overnight hours for paving this week.
The ramps will be closed and detoured between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning, according to a PennDOT news release.
PennDOT spokesman Mike Crochunis said the ramp from Route 581 East to I-83 South at Exit 6B and the ramp from Route 581 East to Lemoyne at Exit 6C will be closed for three nights beginning Tuesday.
Traffic from Route 581 East to I-83 South will be directed to use I-83 North to 13th Street at Exit 44A, make a right turn onto 13th Street, then a left turn onto the ramp to I-83 South.
Route 581 East traffic to Lemoyne will be directed along the same detour route to I-83 South, then use the Lemoyne Exit off of I-83 South at Exit 41B.
The Lowther Street ramp to I-83 South will be closed for two nights starting Wednesday.
Traffic from Lowther Street to I-83 South will be directed to continue east on Lowther Street to I-83 North, to 13th Street at Exit 44A, make a right turn onto 13th Street, then a left turn onto I-83 South.
The paving may be postponed due to weather.
The work is part of a $22.1 million contract to make several improvements to the I-83 and Route 581 interchange.
The project is scheduled to be completed this summer.
