PALMYRA, Pa. (WHTM) – A Palmyra school district employee was arrested after authorities said he was found to be in possession of more than 400 images of child pornography.
Philip Welch is charged with 25 counts of possession of child pornography, one count of dissemination of child pornography, and one count of criminal use of a communication facility, according to a news release from the Lebanon County district attorney’s office.
The charges stemmed from a search of his Palmyra home in March.
Welch was a systems specialist for the Palmyra Area School District. In a statement, superintendent Lisa Brown said the district learned of his arrest Friday and immediately suspended him without pay pending the completion of the investigation.
She said the school district has cooperated with Lebanon County detectives and will continue to do so.
Welch was jailed in Lebanon County Prison on $75,000 bail.
