LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) – A Lancaster priest critically injured in a two-story fall has returned to his parish.
Father Michael Messner’s continued improvement allowed for him to transfer from a rehabilitation facility to the the Sacred Heart of Jesus rectory where he continues his recovery, Harrisburg diocese spokesman Joseph Aponick said in a news release Monday.
Messner will maintain a schedule that includes physical, occupational and cognitive therapy three times per week. He is able to walk short distances and has not yet returned to driving a vehicle, Aponick said.
There is no firm date for him to resume his parish ministry.
Messner suffered a serious head injury Feb. 22 when he fell from a balcony overlooking the parking lot at the parish rectory.
