2 homes damaged by York arson

Two adults and four children are out of their homes after an arson in York.

It happened around 12:30 a.m. Sunday on the 300 block of Walnut Street.

Fire officials said two homes suffered about $15,000 in damage.

Firefighters said there were initial reports that people were trapped inside the house, and when they arrived on scene they couldn’t get inside right away.

Eventually firefighters discovered the home was empty.

It’s believed the fire was started in some furniture that was sitting in front of one of the homes.

“We feel it was intentionally set,” Assistant Fire Chief Pat Rose said. “The items were couches, mattresses, and other items that were moved out just recently.”

The affected residents are being helped by the American Red Cross.
