Police: Theft suspect fled without boots, ID

EPHRATA, Pa. (WHTM) – Police are looking for a man who allegedly tried to steal a pair boots from the Ephrata Walmart but fled barefooted and empty-handed.

He also left behind a Pennsylvania driver’s license that identified him as 43-year-old Ray Keith Weir, of Ephrata, borough police said in a news release.

Weir was stopped by store employees and gave them his license. When he learned authorities were coming, he unsuccessfully tried to get back his license then took off running, police said.

He was last seen driving out of the parking lot in a dark Volkswagen Jetta.

Police charged him with a summary count of retail theft, but they have been unable to find him.
