Brides against breast cancer

Perhaps the only thing better than finding the perfect wedding dress is having the money you paid for it go to a good cause. Midstate brides-to-be will get a chance to do that this weekend.

Brides Against Breast Cancer is bringing its Nationwide Tour of Gowns to York.

The Wyndham Garden Hotel in York will be loaded with hundreds of designer and brand name wedding gowns. They will be for sale at discounts from 25 percent to 85 percent off.

The show will feature wedding gowns in all shapes, sizes 4-20 and colors. The average price of a gown is $600.00 and no gown is priced over $1,800. There will also be gently worn gowns ranging in prices from $75 up to $4,000. There is an interest-free layaway plan.

The sale is Sunday, April 19 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Wyndham Garden Hotel at 2000 Loucks Road.

The proceeds from this event will go to fund healthsupportnetwork.org, an online resource providing free cancer-related programs to anyone impacted by cancer. The Health Support Network is designed to improve the quality of life for adults, families and caregivers during their cancer journey. Education, nutrition, exercise, support and therapy are just some of the many programs and services they support, all designed to help cancer patients, their families and caregivers.

Last year, over $1 million raised went to free programs and services for those impacted by cancer.

Brides Against Breast Cancer is asking recent brides, bridal shops and designers to “pay it forward” by donating your gowns. You will receive a tax deduction letter for your gown donation. The goal this year is to receive 5,000 gowns, which would allow them to provide 40,000 hours of free cancer support services to those in need.
