Police: Man stole from employer to support heroin addiction

GLEN ROCK, Pa. (WHTM) – A Perry County man was arrested after police said he stole boxes of air conditioning refrigerant from his employer and tried to sell a truckload of the stuff to a man he met on Craigslist.

Thomas Evans, 30, of Marysville, was driving erratically on Interstate 83 when a trooper stopped him Tuesday near Glen Rock. He eventually admitted to the trooper that the rental truck he was driving was loaded with 150 boxes of refrigerants that he stole from Moran Logistics in Mechanicsburg, police said in the criminal complaint.

Evans further admitted that he planned to sell the refrigerant at the Shrewsbury exit and that he stole it to fulfill his heroin addiction, police said.

Police said Evans was in possession of 15 bags of heroin and $1,000 in cash.

He was charged with possession with the intent to deliver, theft, receiving stolen property, possession of drug paraphernalia, and careless driving.

His bail at York County Prison was set at $100,000.
