Man in custody after police incident in Chambersburg

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – A man was taken into custody after a police incident in Chambersburg this afternoon.

State police spokesman Trooper Robert Hicks said the man was armed with at least one gun and reportedly was threatening to shoot himself in the area of the 1000 block of Lincoln Highway East.

Troopers assisted Chambersburg police with handling the incident behind the AutoZone and McDonalds.

Police said the man is a Vermont resident with ties to the area.

The standoff lasted nearly two hours.
