CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Work to replace a three-lane bridge on Route 30 west of Chambersburg is scheduled to begin next week.
Weather permitting, construction crews will go to work Tuesday on the bridge over Back Creek at the St. Thomas and Hamilton township line, according to a PennDOT news release.
Traffic will be shifted to one side of the bridge and restricted to a single lane in each direction around-the-clock.
The existing bridge was built in 1937 and is considered structurally deficient.
The $2.1 million project is scheduled to be completed by the end of November, but the contractor may have to return in the spring to finish paving the approaches.
