HERSHEY, Pa. (WHTM) – Penn State Hershey Medical Center and its nurses union have reached a tentative contract agreement.
The three-year contract with SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania, which represents about 1,600 nurses, must be ratified by union members during voting sessions scheduled Friday.
If approved, the contract will be effective April 1 and remain in effect until March 31, 2018.
“We are proud that this agreement was reached through a spirit of openness and collegiality during the negotiation process,” Sherry Kwater, MSM, BSN, RN, chief nursing officer said in a statement. “If ratified by our nurses later this week, the new contract will ensure a continued focus on the organization’s missions of patient care, research, education, and service to the community during a time of great change for our health system and the health care industry.”
