BECHTELSVILLE, Pa. (WHTM) – A 54-year-old Berks County man was arrested after an hours-long standoff at a campground early Wednesday morning.
Troopers were called to a camper at the Lazy K Campground on Washington Road in Bechtelsville for a report of shots fired around 2 a.m.
A woman told police that her neighbor, Brian Mravlja, had spent the last few hours shining a strobe light at her home. She also heard the sound of a gunshot in the area of Mravlja’s camper.
According to the woman, Mravlja then drove from his camper and parked his vehicle outside her home while continuing to shine the strobe light into her window. He began blowing his truck horn and yelling before returning to his camper.
The woman’s boyfriend reportedly saw Mravlja pointing a rifle at their camper.
When troopers arrived at the scene, they knocked on the door of Mravlja’s camper before looking inside and seeing him inside holding a firearm.
They retreated, but Mravlja never exited the trailer. A state police SERT team was called to the scene, and a few hours later Mravlja surrendered peacefully.
Mravlja is charged with recklessly endangering another person.
