LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) – A Lancaster woman is headed to trial on charges she fatally beat her nearly 2-year-old daughter and then disposed of the body.
Shondraya Dickson, 24, waived her preliminary hearing before a district judge Wednesday, according to court records. She remains in the Lancaster County Prison without bail.
Dickson was arrested January 24 after police said she admitted she abused Ja’Zirah Rodgers until she stopped breathing, wrapped the girl’s body in a deflated air mattress, and placed it in the trash.
The child’s body has not been found.
Investigators believe Dickson killed her daughter in their North Plum Street apartment Jan. 2 and for two weeks gave conflicting accounts to social workers about the girl’s whereabouts.
Lancaster County’s Board of Commissioners has since directed its child services agency to establish a new policy for notifying police of suspected abuse when the child cannot be found.
