Harrisburg police crack down on DUI drivers

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Police are warning Harrisburg drivers not to let their St. Patrick’s Day celebrations go too far.

Officers will have an increased presence downtown on Tuesday and during the city’s parade on Saturday.

Drunk driving enforcement has already begun.

Police said they stopped about 300 drivers at a DUI checkpoint at North 2nd and Paxton street and arrested 22 people suspected of drunk driving Saturday night.

If you plan to celebrate, authorities urge you to pay for a ride home or use a designated driver.
