Harrisburg teacher arrested for assault, attempted arson

A Harrisburg teacher is accused of assaulting her husband and threatening to burn down their house.

State police said 38-year-old Adienex Velez was drunk Sunday when she attacked her husband with a vacuum hose attachment.

Police said she had a can of gasoline and threatened to set their West Hanover Township home on fire.

Investigators said the two fought over the can and Velez drove away.  Police arrested her and charged her with DUI, assault, attempted arson, endangering the welfare of children, and more.

It’s unclear which school Velez works in, although according to OpenPaGov.org, she is a special education teacher for several grades.

The Harrisburg School District has placed Velez on administrative leave.
