15 displaced by York fire

YORK, Pa. (WHTM) – Fifteen people were displaced from their homes when fire damaged an apartment building in the 600 block of East Market Street this morning.

Investigators said the fire was caused by an overloaded extension cord and has been ruled accidental.

Damage is estimated at $35,000.

No one was injured.

The American Red Cross said its volunteers are assisting nine adults and six children who lived in the building with shelter, food, clothing, stuffies for the children, and comfort kits.
