ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. (WHTM) – The driver who fatally struck a seventh grader as he walked home from his Lancaster County school apparently was not using a cell phone at the time, according to police.
Elizabethtown police said a preliminary analysis of the driver’s phone indicates that neither calling, answering, nor texting were factors in the accident Monday afternoon in the 400 block of East High Street.
David Weiser, 13, was struck by an SUV two blocks from the Elizabethtown Area middle and high schools just before 3 p.m. and died at the scene. Witnesses said he had been crossing the street.
Police identified the driver as a 37-year-old borough woman.
They said there is no further information to release at the preliminary stage of the investigation.
