Newport man wanted for fleeing police, assault

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Police are looking for a Newport man who allegedly led officers on a pursuit Sunday morning in Cumberland County.

Isaiah Mallin, 21, was huffing a substance from an aerosol can while inside a vehicle when officers responded to the Wegmans parking lot at 6416 Carlisle Pike, Silver Spring Township police said in a news release.

The officers tried to make contact with him, but said Mallin sped off recklessly, left the shopping plaza going the wrong way on a one-way street, and nearly struck a responding police vehicle.

Police said they pursued Mallin through Hampden Township and Mechanicsburg before ending the chase.

Isaiah was charged with fleeing and eluding, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering, driving under the influence, illegal use of noxious substances, and numerous traffic related offenses.
