Winter storm sends state workers home early

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Pennsylvania’s public employees are going home early because of a winter storm that’s already dumped several inches of snow, forced schools to close, and lowered speed limits on major highways.

Governor Tom Wolf said non-essential employees under his jurisdiction will be released three hours early from offices in the Capitol Complex, as well as others in Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Reading.

Wolf said members of the public should call to confirm a state office is open before traveling.
