Police investigate “grab-and-run” jewelry thefts

Police in East Lampeter Township, Lancaster County are investigating two simultaneous “grab-and-run” ring thefts in Tanger Outlets.

On February 19, East Lampeter Township Police Department officers were called to Kay Jewelers for a report that a man had asked to see an expensive three-stone 2K diamond white-gold engagement ring. When the clerk handed the ring to the suspect, he immediately turned and ran out of the store. He was last seen running towards the Arby’s on Lincoln Highway.

The suspect was between 25 and 35 years of age, 5’10” with a thin build, and wore a red Cincinnati Reds baseball hat, red puffy coat, ripped blue jeans, and a gold watch.

East Lampeter Township police received a nearly simultaneous report of a similar theft at Zales Diamond store, also located in Tanger Outlets. Employees said a man asked to see an expensive, multi-diamond white-gold anniversary ring. When the clerk handed him the ring, he immediately ran from the store.

This suspect was between 25 and 35 years of age, 6’2″ in height, and had a husky build. He wore a blue LA Dodgers baseball hat, a black winter coat, and gray sweatpants.
