Police warn of thefts from vehicles at Lower Swatara day care centers

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. (WHTM) – Police in Lower Swatara Township are warning that thieves are targeting unlocked cars when parents pick up and drop off children at day care centers.

Police said they have received several recent complaints of stolen purses, cell phones, medication and credit cards, mostly within a 2- to 10-minute time frame.

They said there is no direct evidence to link the thefts, but the possibility exists that the centers are being directly targeted.

Police are encouraging day care employees to be watchful of unknown or suspicious vehicles.

They also reminded parents to lock their vehicles and to keep their valuables hidden or with them.
