HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – A former mobile therapist and behavioral specialist consultant who worked with York County children in their homes and schools has been charged with Medicaid fraud.
Melissa Kay Balko, 42, of New Oxford, falsified signatures and submitted billing documentation for sessions that did not occur, Attorney General Kathleen Kane’s office said Friday.
According to the criminal complaint, Balko from January 10, 2012 through December 20, 2012 forged signatures on her billing logs and misrepresented her hours and documented services.
The falsified documents caused her employer, Pennsylvania Counseling Services, to submit false or fraudulent claims and caused PCS to pay Balko more than $2,000 for services she did not render, investigators said.
Balko was arrested Wednesday and charged with Medicaid fraud, forgery and theft by deception.
