HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) – A Pennsylvania Bar Association panel is giving favorable ratings to most of the candidates for three open seats on the state Supreme Court.
The release of the judicial evaluations this week comes just before the state Republican and Democratic parties consider making endorsements for the May 19 primaries.
Next November’s election will fill an unprecedented number of vacancies on the high court.
The group’s judicial evaluation commission says it reviewed the legal credentials of 12 candidates who requested evaluations. At least two other candidates did not.
It gave ratings of “highly recommended” to five candidates and “recommended” to six candidates who are county or state judges.
It issued a “not recommended” rating for Montour County District Attorney Rebecca Warren, citing concerns including the depth of her experience in appellate law.
