LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) Police charged a Lancaster city woman with the death of her 1-year-old daughter.
Shondraya Dickson, 23, was arrested in Coatesville Friday evening, police said. Investigators believe she killed her daughter Ja’Zir-ah Rodgers on January 2 at their home along North Plum Street in Lancaster and disposed her body.
Police said the toddler’s father reported to Lancaster County Children and Youth Agency that Dickson physically abused the girl and that he didn’t know where they were. CYA reported Rodgers missing on Thursday afternoon after several attempts to track her and her mother down.
Detectives said they found Dickson in Coatesville with her two other children, a 3-year-old daughter and 3-month-old son. They were not harmed.
Investigators said Dickson provided a number of different accounts about where Rodgers might be. Saturday morning police determined Dickson assaulted and killed Rodgers. She has been charged with criminal homicide, abuse of a corpse, intimidation, retaliation or obstruction in child abuses cases and endangering the welfare of children. She’s being held without bail.
