Family arrested in 3-year burglary, theft spree

GETTYSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Police have arrested an Adams County family in connection to a burglary and theft ring that dates back to 2011.

Authorities identified the suspects as brothers Joseph Cool Jr., 20, and Andrew Cool, 19, their mother, April Shultz, 38, and stepfather, William Rexroth, 49, all of Gardners, their father, Joseph Cool Sr., 40, and a family friend, Jason Varner, 29, both of Biglerville.

The six were arrested Jan. 16 for burglarizing homes, barns, sheds and other outbuildings in Adams and York counties from April 2011 to Sept. 2014.

State police in Gettysburg said the defendants would break into buildings at night and steal various items, including guns.

The total value of the stolen items was more than $100,000, police said.
