Volunteers to help community in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Volunteers across the country will honor civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Junior by participating in community service projects on Monday.

The Harrisburg School District will host the kick-off ceremony for the Central Pennsylvania MLK Day of Service at 9 a.m. It will take place at Camp Curtin Academy at 2900 North Sixth Street.

The event will feature musical and spoken word performances. Metro Bank will also recognize 12 Harrisburg School District students for their submission to its Martin Luther King essay contest.

After the ceremony, volunteers will participate in service projects across the greater Harrisburg area. If you would like to volunteer here is a link of some of the projects happening on Monday http://www.centralpamlkday.org/
