HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – A Harrisburg man will spend 17 to 34 years in a state prison for raping three women he had threatened with weapons.
Jyrell Selvey, 24, was additionally classified as a sexually violent predator Thursday and ordered to serve 12 terms of probation on top of his prison sentence, according to the Dauphin County District Attorney’s Office.
Selvey allegedly raped the women in June, July and September of 2013. One woman told police she was threatened with a gun, another a knife, and the third said she was threatened with a pipe-like item, authorities said.
When the third victim was sexually assaulted, authorities said she had the courage to lie to Selvey and say that she enjoyed being with him. She asked for his cell phone number, which he gave to her, and police then matched his DNA to the other cases.
Authorities said Selvey has a history of mental illness and reported that he sees people who are not really there and that they talk to him.
He expressed remorse for his actions before sentencing.
