HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – The winds are forecasted to howl and the temperatures to plummet to a sub-zero feel Wednesday night. The Midstate is gearing up for the freeze.
Among those preparing — Bethesda Mission in Harrisburg. The shelter is gearing up with more staff, supplies and extra hot meals for those with nowhere to go to stay out of the cold.
“It’s always busy this time of the year, but it’s particularly busy when the weather gets really bad like it is this week,” Bethesda Mission Executive Director Chuck Wingate said. “The real key is to give people relief from the cold and safety from wind chills and other factors, which really are life-threatening.”
The shelter is in need of extra blankets to keep up with the demand. If you are interested in helping, you can visit this website for contact information: https://www.bethesdamission.org/help-bethesda/needs-list-page/
