PENBROOK, Pa. (WHTM) – A driver who refused to stop for police lost control of a minivan and crashed into the front door of a Penbrook business early Wednesday.

Penbrook police said they attempted to stop the van on Walnut Street for a traffic violation, but the driver took off and several blocks later crashed into the Harrisburg Kung-Fu Center building at 24th and Walnut streets around 3 a.m.

The occupants fled the vehicle, but 22-year-old John McDonald III was captured about two blocks from the crash scene, police said.

McDonald, of Harrisburg, faces felony counts of flight to avoid apprehension, fleeing and eluding and criminal trespass, according to court records.

He was additionally charged with 12 summary traffic violations including failure to stop at a red light and driving with a suspended license.

Anyone with information regarding the incident, including the other occupants of the vehicle, is asked to call Penbrook police at 717-558-6900.
