RONKS, Pa. (WHTM) – A Paradise Township man was arrested after authorities said he walked into the state police barracks in Lancaster on Christmas and confessed to killing his wife.
Dustin Klopp, 36, allegedly admitted to investigators that he killed 34-year-old Stephanie Kilnhefner inside their home in the 600 block of Georgetown Road on Christmas Eve.
According to charging documents, Klopp told police he was arguing with his wife and punched her in the face. After Kilnhefner fell to the floor, Klopp said he slit her throat with a knife and struck her in the head several times with an axe.
He told police he then moved his wife’s body from the basement to a shed on their property.
He was charged with criminal homicide, abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence.
Friends said Kilnhefner was a loving mother and a passionate advocate for rescuing animals, especially horses.
“We could not believe it. We were devastated. It was really a shame,” neighbor Jere Fenniger said. “You read about it, but who would think right across the street in a peaceful place like that.”
Klopp is being held in Lancaster County Prison without bail.
