PHILADELPHIA (WHTM) – On January 20, Pennsylvania will get a new governor – and the new guy wants to make sure we know he’s inheriting big problems.
Governor-elect Tom Wolf took his “Don’t Blame Me” tour to Philadelphia on Wednesday with a similar message to what he shared last week in central Pennsylvania.
Wolf had charts and graphs explaining to reporters that he’s walking into a deficit of at least $2 billion.
He doesn’t know the full extent of the problem yet, so he’s not going to offer solutions. Besides, he said, solving the fiscal crisis will require the cooperation of the legislature.
After outlining the problem, Wolf then pivoted and found the silver lining.
“I’m not looking at this as doom and gloom here,” he said. “I think it’s going to be an exciting time. It’s definitely not steady state. We’re not looking at it as the same old solutions. It’s a time that calls for innovative thinking. I think that’s a good thing. People are going to think differently right now because we all Republican and Democrat, House and Senate. We all know there’s a problem.”
Wolf’s inauguration is Jan. 20.
