LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) – Damian Schuyler grew up in York County and joined the Army in 2006. He was given the keys to his new, mortgage-free home in Lancaster on Monday.
Wells Fargo Home Mortgage and Military Warriors Support Foundation made Schuyler’s dream of having a nice home in Pennsylvania
“I would not be in a nice neighborhood like this,” Schuyler said. “It will make things a lot easier, moving on with the things that I’m going through right now.”
Schuyler, 28, was deployed to Iraq in 2008 and was injured when his convoy came under attack. Two years later, he suffered a traumatic brain injury from several IED blasts. A third of his company was killed in action.
Schuyler took medical retirement and continues to seek treatment for night terrors.
He plans on having his wife and four children move into their new home from the state of Washington by they end of the year,
and he is looking forward to starting a new job.
