NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. (WHTM) – The search will continue Monday for a Cumberland County teen who went missing two weeks ago along the Susquehanna River.
Over the weekend, New Cumberland River Rescue and nearly 20 volunteers were back out on the water and along the shoreline, searching for 17-year-old Medard Kowalski. He was last seen paddling his canoe on the river December 1.
Crews are using long poles to comb the river. They are also sifting through debris between New Cumberland and the York Haven dam.
First responders said they are not giving up.
“It has taken a toll on, I think, everybody…the family included,” said River Rescue Commander Matt Stoner. “The volunteers are out there and we’re seeing the same volunteers day to day. The weather has taken a beating on us, the equipment’s taken a beating.”
Kowalski is a junior at Cedar Cliff High School and is a member of the wrestling team.
