8 hurt in buggy crash

The driver of a horse-drawn buggy ran a stop sign before a crash that injured eight people in Lancaster County, according to police.

Daniel Esh, 38, of Kirkwood, failed to stop at the intersection of Mapleshade Road and Kirkwood Pike in Colerain Township and his buggy was struck by a Subaru Outback at around 7 p.m. Thursday, police said in a news release.

A 3-month-old girl, one of at least four people ejected from the buggy, was airlifted to a hospital and was listed in critical condition.

Esh and another girl in the buggy were listed in stable condition and two boys in the buggy sustained minor injuries.

The driver of the Subaru and her passenger also had minor injuries.
