State Police award Purple Heart at graduation ceremony

Commissioner Frank Noonan says the past several weeks have been an emotional roller coaster, but he is proud to be the leader of the Pennsylvania State Police.

Noonan led the search for suspected killer Eric Frein and attended the funeral of Corporal Bryon Dickson, the trooper Frein  allegedly killed at the Blooming Grove barracks on Sept. 12.

On Friday, Noonan presented Trooper Bradley Wilson with the Pennsylvania State Police Purple Heart during the 139th cadet class graduation at the Milton Hershey School.

Wilson was shot twice Sept. 26, 2013 while serving a search warrant with other law enforcement officers in Jefferson County.

Wilson says he has been humbled by the support he has received and honored to given the Purple Heart.

“The Pennsylvania State Police have been very strong and supportive towards me and my injuries and my family,” Bradley said. “I will never forget them.”

Bradley was paralyzed from the waist down. He has 25 years with the Pennsylvania State Police.
