Now is the time to see if you can save some money on your natural gas bill.
The Natural Gas Choice and Competition Act was signed into law in 1999. It gives Pennsylvanians the right to choose who supplies their natural gas.
The Public Utility Commission suggests going to PAGasSwitch.com and entering your ZIP code. You can view a list of suppliers, their rates and competitive offers.
“Ask questions when you are shopping for a supplier,” PUC spokeswoman Denise McCracken said. “Ask about cancellation fees if you decide to cancel early or you want to switch to another supplier. Make sure there are not any extra penalties. Read that fine print and, especially since we are going into the winter season, now is a real good time for consumers to review their contracts.”
Competitive offers may not be available in all areas. It takes three to six weeks to switch suppliers.
